Remy Cointreau, a France-based producer of cognac, liqueurs, spirits and Champagne, is to make its new expression Cointreau Noir available in global duty-free and travel retail by 2013.
Cointreau Noir is a collaborative product of House of Cointreau master distiller Bernadette Langlais and Rémy Martin cellar master Pierrette Trichet. The 40% ABV product is a blend of Cointreau orange liqueur and Rémy Martin cognac and possesses notes of vanilla, honey, dried fruit, almond, walnuts and orange zest bouquet.
Remy Cointreau GTR marketing and business development director Matthew Hodges said Cointreau Noir is a result of rare partnership between two historic houses that have combined their talents to produce this new liquor.
"Cointreau Noir is a sultry dark version of the orange liqueur we know and love - the blend of Cointreau with cognac seems to add depth which we believe will appeal to dark spirits connoisseurs as well as lovers of cocktails like Cointreau Fizz," Hodges added.
The new expression will be initially launched in the US in November 2012, followed by Asia and Europe in 2013 with a price tag of $39 per 750ml bottle.
