PepsiCo has named Brett O’Brien, a 12-year veteran of the company, as senior vice president and general manager of Gatorade’s North American business, according to an internal memo obtained by The Chicago Tribune. O’Brien takes the reins of the number one selling sports drink brand following the departure of Sarah Robb O’Hagan, who left PepsiCo in August.
O’Brien previously served as the vice president of marketing for PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew, Flavors and Amp Energy brands. He has also worked with the company’s juice drinks division, Urban Lifestyle Programming, and Pepsi Music and Millennial Initiatives.
“Brett is a tremendous leader whose efforts have led to incredible results for our business,” Debra Crew, president of PepsiCo Americas Beverages wrote in the memo.
Crew also noted that O’Brien’s work on Mountain Dew took “the brand’s legacy of fan engagement to new levels and partnered with athletes in groundbreaking ways.”
