J & J Snack Foods Q1 revenues up 86%

Core Tip: J & J Snack Foods has reported that its earnings increased by 86% to $10.2m for the first quarter of 2013, compared to $5.5m in the same period in the previous year.
J & J Snack Foods, a US-based nutritional snack and beverage manufacturer, has reported that its earnings increased by 86% to $10.2m for the first quarter of 2013, compared to $5.5m in the same period in the previous year.

For the period, the company posted 11% increase in sales to $191.4m, compared to $172.7m in the first quarter of 2012.

The operating income increased by 78% to $15.1m in the first quarter, compared to $8.5m for teh corresponding period in the previous year.

J & J Snack Foods president and chief executive officer Gerald B. Shreiber said that the company's foodservice and frozen beverage businesses performed well and helped establish record sales and earnings for the quarter.

The company's product portfolio includes SuperPretzel, Mrs. Goodcookie, Pretzel Fillers, Country Home and Readi-Bake cookies; Tio Pepe's churros, The Funnel Cake Factory, Wholefruit, and Patio burritos.
