Core Tip: When you want to pay tribute to Irish tradition but you're over the Irish Car Bombs, snap up some seasonal offerings sans booze. McDonald's, Dunkin' Donuts, and other fast-food faves are serving special items in tribute to Saint Pat himself.
St. Patrick's DayIt's no secret that St. Patrick's Day (March 17) revolves around consuming copious amounts of distilled beverages, but even for the most hardened Irish imbiber, Jameson and Guinness can get old after a while.

So when you want to pay tribute to Irish tradition but you're over the Irish Car Bombs, snap up some seasonal offerings sans booze. McDonald's, Dunkin' Donuts, and other fast-food faves are serving special items in tribute to Saint Pat himself.

Much like the McRib, McDonald's Shamrock Shake is an annual tradition. Fast-food fanatics eagerly away the green mint bevvie each March. You can score 'em now, but better be quick -- they don't stick around long. And then it's another long, painful 11 months before the minty deliciousness comes around again.

Miami's cupcake kingdom, Sweetness Bake Shop & Café, is serving three special varieties of cupcake for this Sunday's festivities: Pot of Gold, made with chocolate espresso cake, Jameson whiskey, dulce de leche, and Bailey's dulce leche buttercream; an Irish Car Bomb, made with chocolate Guinness cake, Jameson whiskey ganache, and Bailey's buttercream; and a Feelin' Lucky, made with vanilla cake, marshmallow buttercream, and Lucky Charms cereal. All three will be available Sunday, March 17, so you can stock up on dessert before the binge-drinking begins.

This year, Dunkin' Donuts has rolled out an Irish-inspired line of drinks and treats. There's the Irish Crème Donut, complete with a sugared raised shell, Irish Crème-flavored filling, and powdered sugar; the hot or cold Irish Crème Latte, topped with caramel drizzle; and the Irish Crème Frozen Coffee Coolatta. Stand by for a major sugar rush.
Everyone's other favorite doughnut standby, Krispy Kreme, will offer green sweets beginning a couple days before St. Paddy's Day. No word on exact flavor options until later in the week, but the purveyor promises the shamrock-inspired edibles will feature green sprinkles and all that festive jazz.
