Coca-Cola plans to up its production in Mozambique four fold as of 2015, when its new factory due to be built in Matola-Gare starts operating, the chairman of the company said Tuesday.

At the ceremony to lay the first stone of the project to build the new factory, Benjamim Alfredo said that production would increase from 25 million boxes currently to 100 million boxes with the new factory, which will take two years to build and cost US$130 million.

The new industrial unit will be built on a 20-hectare plot and have seven filling lines and will also have a new warehouse.

“As of the first half of 2015 the whole business will be run from here, in Matola-Gare, as the factory in Machava will be de-activated and the warehouse in Maputo will be transferred to the new unit,” said Alfredo, according to Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias.
