Jackson Family Wines, a California-based family-owned winery that is involved in sustainable viticulture practices, winemaking and responsible vineyard and natural resource management, has acquired Zena West, a Willamette Valley vineyard in Oregon.
Located in the Eola-Amity Hills American Viticultural Area (AVA) in Salem, the 41-acre Zena West is juxtaposed by Zena East and Zena Middle estates, which the company had purchased in March 2013.
The three vineyards are known as Zena Crown and are planted with 80 acres of vines.
The move to purchase Zena West property was part of the company's plans to produce high-end Pinot Noir wines in the region.
Each of the Zena Crown sites is certified with Low Impact Viticulture and Enology (LIVE), and Salmon Safe.
In another development, the winery has also purchased a 200-acre planted vineyard - Gran Moraine - in the Yamhill-Cartlon district of Oregon.
