John Distilleries, a Bangalore-based maker of Original Choice Whiskey, has launched two new single malt Indian whiskies in London on 14 May 2013.
Distilled and aged in the Indian state of Goa, the two whiskies are Paul John Brilliance and Paul John Edited.
Brilliance is made with non-peated Indian barley, while Edited is made using Islay-sourced peat and features 15% peated Indian barley in the whiskey.
Both the blends are aged in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 46% ABV.
Brilliance possesses light fruity flavors with hints of honey and spice, citrus notes and lingering finish. Edited carries notes of iodine, chocolate, vanilla and molasses.
The company has initially produced only 2,000 bottles of each blend. In the UK, the blends will be available through the Whisky Shop and at select bars and restaurants. While Brilliance is priced at £38.50, Edited is sold at £42.
John Distilleries further plans to roll out the blends in India, US, Canada, Scandinavia and Germany.
