Mexican major retailer Organizacion Soriana (Soriana) has signed a new contract to deploy Pricer's scalable Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) solution in at least 120 additional stores.

The deal was signed for SEK30m ($4.6m). Initially, Pricer will deploy the ESL system in 27 Soriana stores during the second quarter of 2013.

Pricer's ESL system is based on a two-way communication protocol to ensure a complete traceability, which is said to improve consumer benefit and store productivity.

Pricer CEO Fredrik Berglund said,"This retailer has installed over 100 stores with ESL of another vendor before moving to Pricer and installing so far 250 stores with us."

Soriana operates a chain of hypermarkets, supermarkets, club stores and convenience stores. The product portfolio includes food, clothing, general merchandise and health products.

These products are sold under Valley foods, Hipermart, Soriana, Soriana premium quality, Trainer's choice, Timbree and Babyessent private labels.

As of December 2012, Soriana operated 606 stores in 280 cities across 32 states of Mexico.
