Champagne Jacquart, a France-based Champagne house, has introduced a new blend, Alpha 2005, to expand its reach from quality growers’ co-operative Champagne to major players of the sector.
The Alpha 2005 is an ultra-brut blend based on four crus from the Montagne de Reims - Mailly, Verzenay, Villers-Marmery and Trépail.
Made from 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, the Alpha is mainly targeted for Jacquart's key markets, including France, Germany, Belgium, the US and the UK.
Alpha 2005 is aged for six years on the lees and will be sold at €80 per 750ml bottle.
The company has produced only few thousand bottles of Alpha 2005 Champagne.
Champagne Jacquart managing director Laurent Reinteau told Decanter.com that Alpha was the first major launch for Jacquart, and that it replaces the house's non-vintage cuvée Nominée.
The company claims that it is carrying out several experiments in the cellars to further launch high-ends Champagnes in the future.
