Spain's Rioja region has reported a 7.74% increase in wine exports to 47.7 million liters in the first six months of 2013 compared to the same period in 2012.
Of the total exports, the UK has imported 14.8 million liters, up 4.58%, compared to the same period in 2012.
Germany stood at second place by purchasing 8.6 million liters, a 0.6% less than 2012. The US wine imports from the region have increased to more than five million liters, up 20.23%, compared to 2012.
Local consumption increased 2.75% to 91.8 million liters and sales have increased 4.40% to 139.5 million liters compared to the same period in 2012.
Non-vintage or young wine sales increased 1.70% to 64.4 million liters followed by vintage wines accounting to 52.4 million liters, up 4.24%.
Other wines including regular reserve wines sales increased 13.18% to 20.2 million liters and larger reserve wines sales have rose 15.26% to 2.3 million liters.
