Diageo, the owner of Scotch whiskey brand Johnnie Walker, has added Johnnie Walker Platinum Label Scotch whiskey to its portfolio in the US.
Crafted by master blender Jim Beveridge, the 18yo whiskey is crafted from single malt and grain whiskies selected from a limited number of casks, selected from 20-25 distilleries. The blend is then matured in wooden casks.
Platinum Label can be consumed neat or with water. It offers aromas of tart tangerines, woody almonds and also provides tangy and fruitful flavors.
Beveridge said since the days of John Walker, private blends have played an important role in the House of Walker.
"It's the smaller, exclusive settings and experiences that often produce the best memories," Beveridge added.
"We blended Johnnie Walker Platinum Label as a whisky to be enjoyed responsibly during those treasured moments."
Diageo Scotch whiskey director Brian Radics said Johnnie Walker Platinum Label is the brand's biggest product launch since the introduction of Blue Label.
"It has been received extremely well globally. The quality of the liquid and the flavor of the whisky will continue to bolster our position as the world's leading Scotch whisky brand," Radics added.
Johnnie Walker Platinum Label is available throughout the US from August 2013 at a suggested retail price of $110.
