MeatVion giant Vion has responded to allegations made by a Dutch television show, which asserted that the company has committed various counts of fraud with its meat production.

Anonymous employees of Vion made a number of serious allegations regarding the quality of certain meat products on the documentary TV show, which aired last night in the Netherlands.

‘The Zembla TV programme featured several anonymous accusations aimed at VION Food. In the run-up to the broadcast we asked the Zembla editors to give us full insight into these accusations on multiple occasions, but they did not do so', Vion said in a statement today, 5 September.

'There are various avenues open to Vion Food staff to point out our shortcomings or present ideas for improvements to the management. In addition to the usual avenues and places for internal consultation, Vion Food has, for quite some time now, had a scheme for whistleblowers that gives staff the opportunity to anonymously talk to an independent, external party'.

The meat producer continued,'None of the anonymous accusations Zembla reported on were passed on to VION Food’s management using this system. Which is odd and does not add to the credibility of the accusations discussed by Zembla'.
