The predominant colour of the LycoRed booth is no longer red, as it has been in previous years.
“This is because we’re keen to emphasise the fact that we’re so much more than just a lycopene company,” says Roee Nir, the company’s global commercial manager.
Recently LycoRed launched Intense, a highly concentrated beta-carotene natural colouring which allows manufacturers to save money because less needs to be used in order to achieve the same hue. In fact, the company has been increasing its efforts in the beta-carotene market. Last year it acquired Ukrainian company Vitan, a manufacturer of natural beta-carotene, and LycoRed is expanding its capability there as well as continuing to drive improved yield.
“We’re able to take many of the lessons we learned with lycopene, and apply the knowledge to beta-carotene,” said Nir. “That’s important because, right now, we can sell everything we can produce – so increasing availability is very important to us. It is also enabling us to drive costs down to the point where natural beta-carotene colouring is highly competitive in price with the synthetic alternative.” According to Nir, LycoRed is already doing Intense business with a number of European beverage manufacturers.
LycoRed has also introduced a range of liquid emulsions which are available in a range of clarities and opacities, and these are also on show for visitors to see on the new-look LycoRed booth.
