Tangerine Confectionery, a UK-based sugar confectionery producer, is planning to cut down its workforce in the country, as part of its restructuring process.
The company currently employs around 340 people at its plants across Vicarage Lane and Clifton Road in the resort, and factories in Liverpool, Cleckheaton, Pontefract and York.
According to the company, the operations at its manufacturing facilities will be restructured once the ongoing review is completed.
Tangerine is expected to introduce leaner manufacturing processes as part of the review, which likely means some redundancies from within the company.
The restructuring process will help in protecting jobs, by operating in modern and efficient way, the company claims.
Commenting on the move, Tangerine Confectionery chief executive Graham Hunter said, "Tangerine Confectionery must ensure that it operates as efficiently as possible to meet the demands of today's market and to safeguard the long term future of the company and its workforce.
"Our primary concern at this time is the welfare of our staff affected by the consultation and we will do everything we can to support them at this difficult time."
In addition, the company is expected to shut its Poole factory in Dorset, by reducing 75 jobs.
Tangerine Confectionery manufactures sugar confectionery and popcorn products. It offers chocolate products, confectionery products, sweets, marshmallows, ruffle bars, chews and gums, jellies, liquorice, and toffees and fudges.
