Scotch Whisky exports from the UK have increased by 87% over the last ten years, according to analysis from the Scottish Government, based on the latest HMRC figures.
According to the latest figures available, the exports have increased to £4.3bn in 2012 from £2.3bn in 2002.
In addition, the volume of exports has witnessed a rise with around 32% more Scotch Whisky being supplied internationally in the same period.
Scotland Food and Drink Minister Richard Lochhead said that Scotch Whisky is one of the country's most iconic products and these figures demonstrate the huge global demand for whisky.
"I've made growing the food and drink industry one of my main priorities since coming to office and I'm particularly pleased that these results show a 51 per cent rise in the value of exports since 2007," added Lochhead.
Scotland currently exports whisky to 173 countries including the US, Brazil, China, Bermuda, Papua New Guinea and the Vatican City.
