Pork sales were up by around three per cent in the last quarter, according to a new report from BPEX.

Pork sales rose in both volume and value terms over the last quarter, ending with Christmas, with volumes up 2.8 per cent and value by 3.2 per cent.

In comparison to the small increase in average pork prices (+0.4 per cent), the average prices for fresh beef and lamb were up by 9.6 per cent and 6.1 per cent, respectively, according to the latest BPEX Quarterly Report.

Not only does it look at volume and value but also sales by tier, by cut and by retailer, showing which supermarkets had the greatest share of the market.

Bacon, sausages and ham are not forgotten with their own dedicated sections looking at the same range of figures.

The report is available to download from the BPEX web site.
