New Belgium Brewing is set to commence the construction of a new $175m brewery in Asheville, North Carolina from 1 May 2014.
To be established in a 133,000ft² space, the new brewery will have a capacity to produce around half million barrels of beer annually. It will also feature a liquid center tasting room.
New Belgium Brewing spokesman Bryan Simpson said that the company is investing $175 million in the project over a seven-year stretch.
Set to become operational by 2015-end, the new brewery will produce Fat Tire amber ale and the 1554 black lager.
In addition, the brewery is establishing a separate 100,000ft² distribution center on Sand Hill Road at the Enka Commerce Park. This new project is expected create 140 new jobs in the region.
New Belgium is one of two new major breweries in the Asheville area.
