92 shipments of non-EU meat into Northern Ireland in last 12 months

Ninety two consignments of various meat products - including lamb, beef, chicken and venison - have been imported into Northern Ireland from outside the European Union in the past twelve months.

The majority of imports were from the antipodes.

There were 35 consignments of lamb and 14 consignments of venison from New Zealand, and 18 consignments of lamb from Australia.

There were also three consignments of beef and 10 consignments of chicken from Brazil; two consignments of chicken from China; and 10 consignments of chicken from Thailand.

The imports were recorded at Border Inspection Posts at Belfast port or Aldergrove.
