The Ministry of Production will continue until the 31 of May, the second season of anchovy and white anchovy fishing in the southern part of the country, ranging from 16 ° 00'00 " (Penthouse - Arequipa Region) to the southern tip of the Peruvian maritime domain (Tacna).
The deadline initially set up on 31 March, was expanded until 30 April.
This second extension is the second fishing season of 2013, for which a catch of 430,000 of anchovy for indirect human consumption has been authorized by Ministerial Resolution 301-2013-PRODUCE. To date, only 22.6 per cent of the authorised catch has been caught.
It is noteworthy that the extension was ordered by PRODUCE following the recommendations of the Marine Institute of Peru (Imarpe), in its report "Development of the anchovy fishery in the Southern Region of Peru during October 2013 - April 10, 2014."
In the document, the scientific institution reported 107,000 tonnes of anchovy until early April, which represents 22.6 per cent of the approved catch was caught.
Fishing activities during the extension period, shall be made in compliance with all the provisions laid down in existing fisheries management for the south, sustainability, resources, control and surveillance, among others.
