In Co.opMart supermarkets, Co.op Food, Co.op Xtra, and in Commercial Sense City in the Mekong delta city of Can Tho, new retail prices of imported products as Abbott, Nestle and Mead Johnson were cut down by VND38,000 (US$ 1.79) -VND205,000 (US$ 9.67) per a carton of milk.
Nguyen Thanh Nhan, deputy director of Saigon Co.op Company said that right after the Ministry of Finance determined ceiling price on baby formula milk for children under the age of six, Saigon Co.op had a negotiation with suppliers to drop the prices.
Following the reduction of children formula milk by Saigon Co.op other supermarkets are considering to obey the Financial Ministry’s regulations.
