Results of a Chilean Salmon Industrynew study has indicated that in the next five years the Chilean salmon industry will require more than 8,000 new workers in direct and indirect jobs.

The results of the Study of Labour Market Intelligence report were announced at a seminar organised by the Council Competency Salmon Aquaculture Industry (CEC), led by SalmonChile.

Within the next five years, the industry will need to reach 8,279 jobs in the regions of Los Lagos, Aysen and Magallanes. Of these, approximately 3,000 are linked to the increase in services associated with the increased number of operating centers and meeting the needs of emerging environmental issues.

The research findings also revealed that the demand for new staff is mainly materializing in less skilled segments of the production chain, making it necessary to strengthen the industry/education links, with an emphasis on vocational education media.
