According to a report from the Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador, the country has exported a total of 102,799,334 boxes of bananas from different ports.
It is worth noting that this is a positive figure, higher than in the same period of previous years. In 2012, 93,728,011 boxes of bananas were exported, while from January to April 2013, exports from various Ecuadorian ports reached 87,966,695 boxes.
By months
In January 2014, 7,475,852 boxes of bananas were exported from Puerto Bolívar, while in the same month of 2013, the total shipped was of 6,606,475 boxes.
In February, the figure registered was of 5,205,199 boxes, while in the same period of 2013 it was of 5,489,160 boxes.
In March, exports from Puerto Bolivar reached 6,807,435 boxes, higher than in the same period of 2013, when this figure stood at 5,802,680 boxes.
In April, the export volume stood at 25,342%; a total of 6,608,101 boxes, which was less than in the same month of 2013, when shipments reached 7,061,614 boxes.
In total, from January to April 2014, a total of 25,992,013 boxes of bananas have been exported from Puerto Bolívar. So far, this figure is higher than in 2013, when a total of 24,353,165 boxes of bananas were exported during the same period.
