Tesco has announced that Irishwoman Niamh Lynch will take over from Alasdair James as the new commercial director of its global business unit.
According to a report in The Grocer, Lynch has worked at Tesco for over five years, most recently as director of global accounts. Her previous roles include fresh food director for Tesco Ireland and commercial business manager. She has also worked as a national account manager for Unilever.
A Tesco spokeswoman said, "We're pleased Niamh has taken up the position of global business unit director.
"Niamh has significant experience, having previously been fresh food category director for Tesco Ireland."
Lynch's predecessor James, who spent seven years at Tesco in a number of senior roles, has taken up a new role as president and chief member officer of Sears owned Kmart discount stores.
