There’s a steady supply of snow peas coming from Guatemala right now according to Windy Lai of Capital Trading Foods in Murray, Utah.
“For us, we need snow peas year round, we get our snow pea supply from Miami, Mexico and Guatemala, and right now they are coming from areas in Guatemala,” she explained.
The ample supply of the vegetable is making prices low at the moment, as they are coming in at $9.00 per 10-pound case. According to Lai, while the vegetable is a stable mainstay ingredient in many Asian restaurants, certain restaurants seem to be having a growing interest in the flat, thin pea.
