Recently, a batch of 4 tonnes of live sea eel, worth 108, 000 yuan, was successfully exported to Japan on 27th July after receiving qualification from Zhuhai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. The fish was farmed and produced by Zhuhai Xinyuan Aquaculture Co., Ltd. , and it’s the first time that sea eel produced in Zhuhai has been exported to Japan, which also indicates that the aquatic product farmed in Zhuhai is officially recognized by Japanese market.
According to the Bureau, it has taken a lot of supporting measures to help Xinyuan Aquaculture open the Japanese market, considering that live sea eel is a kind of high-risk commodity regarding inspection and quarantine. Firstly, it helps the enterprise build self-inspection system, entitling the enterprise more autonomy. Secondly, it implements more flexible policies and loosens the regulation that disqualifying one enterprise’s registration if it hasn’t exported anything overseas within one year. Meanwhile, the Bureau supplies door-to-door technological support regarding inspection and provide free inspection for high-risk commodities. It also helps the enterprise to know Japanese requirements of imported aquatic products, and assists them in preparing relevant certification documents, finally achieving the product export of the enterprise.
It’s known that a total of 2, 553 batches, weighing 2, 156 tonnes and worth as much as 4. 853 million US dollars, have been exported to Hong Kong and Macao since the beginning of this year. The export of these aquatic products enjoys significant demonstration effect with regard to further scaling, standardizing and normalizing of aquaculture enterprises in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.
