From January to August, Hainan totally exported 84, 000 tonnes of seafood product overseas, up by 6.4% year on year. 71, 000 tonnes among all the products were tilapia and tilapia-related products, which increased by 7.8%, accounting for 84.8% of the total exported seafood and aquatic product volume. And it ranked second in the whole country regarding tilapia and relevant products export, accounting for 27.8% of the total.
The total export value in the first 8 months was up to 1.97 billion yuan, growing by 6.1%, among which tilapia products increased by 3.2% year on year, up to 1.27 billion yuan. Both export volume and export value grew.
As the featured export product in Hainan province, tilapia produced here has been exported to 48 countries and regions via its superior quality. American market was the largest one and imported a total of 29, 000 tonnes tilapia products, which grew by 1.8% year on year. To make sure the export product quality, Haikou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has actively optimized its clearance procedures and set up special “green channel” for agricultural products and aquatic products. Besides, Haikou Customs actively carried out industry survey to guide local tilapia processors to keep pace with international market, supported local enterprise o grow into international brand and helped them improve their competitiveness on international market.
