Suifenhe port, a one hundred year-history port in the border between China and Russia, has carried out pilot import of foreign edible aquatic products since 1st November, 2016, which was also the first time that Suifenhe port has imported overseas aquatic product. Since then Suifenhe port would further meet Chinese domestic demand for imported aquatic products.
As China’s gateway to Vladivostok, Russia, Suifenhe is an important port for bilateral trading between China and Russia.
Fully functional facilities, extensive foreign investment, developed cold-chain logistics, prosperous Russian commodities market, favorable geographic advantages and so on all provide necessary conditions for Suifenhe port to import foreign aquatic products.
General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China issued an announcement on 26th October to set Suifenhe port as the pilot import for importing aquatic product, which would last 6 months. It there weren’t any accidents during the period, Suifenhe would automatically become the registered aquatic product import port.
