Approximately 612 pounds of the product were incorrectly packaged and labelled. 247 pounds were sold to customers; the remaining 365 pounds were removed from store shelves and inventories.
The recall only affects “Original Brownies with Pecans” sold in 15 Wegmans stores in New York State. These are: the Onondaga store in Syracuse, the Sheridan and McKinley stores in Buffalo, the Newark, Ithaca, Hornell, and Johnson City stores in Finger Lakes / S. Tier, and the Eastway, Holt Road, Latta Road, Lyell Avenue, Marketplace, Mt. Read, Perinton, and Pittsford stores in Rochester.
The brownies were sold between March 16th and April 1st both individually on the cookie bar in Wegmans’ Bakery Departments and prepackaged by the pound in plastic clamshell containers. These containers were marked with “Best By” dates of 03/21/17 through 4/5/17 and the UPC number 20818400000.
The undeclared peanuts on the labelling of “Wegmans Original Killer Brownies with Pecans” make cause potentially deadly reactions in people who are allergic to peanuts. The products should be disposed of or returned to the store for a complete refund.
