The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that a volunteer recall has been issued by Unilever for certain packages of “Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Pint Slices.” These packages may actually contain “Vanilla Peanut Butter Cup Pint Slices” – a product that contains peanut allergens.

The affected lot of erroneously packaged and labeled ice cream products was shipped nationwide to retail stores. They are packaged in a paperboard box labeled as “Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Pint Slices” and containing 9-fluid ounces (266 mL) of 3 individually wrapped ice cream slices. These boxes are marked with the “Best By” date “AUG1218LT2,” the UPC code “076840657940” and the lot number “AUG1218LT2.”

People who are allergic to peanuts and peanut butter could experience life-threatening reactions if they consume this product. They should return either return the product to the place of purchase or throw it away.
