When receiving NZ Minister of Agriculture, Biosecurity, Food Safety and Rural Communities, Damien O’Connor in Hanoi on August 29, the Vietnamese prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc suggested New Zealand support his nation to build a value chain for dragon fruit.

The PM welcomed Minister O’Connor, who is also Minister of Trade and Export Growth and took this occasion to thank New Zealand for providing official development assistance for Vietnam over the past time.

We hope New Zealand will help Vietnam organise production and create a value chain for Vietnamese dragon fruit to boost exports of this fruit to the world, the PM said.

O’Connor expressed his impression of the dynamic development of Vietnam and said he was to have working sessions with Vietnamese ministries, departments and localities to seek stronger collaboration in agriculture and other fields.

According to an article on en.vietnamplus.vn, Phuc stressed that Vietnam always attaches great importance to the ASEAN-New Zealand strategic partnership and revealed that Vietnam will be Chair of ASEAN in 2020.
