The company has been working for more than one year on the project, which includes a new distribution centre and additional production lines.
The new 106,000ft² facility is equipped with the company’s direct store delivery (DSD) operations and a new manufacturing line, which will have the capacity to process more than 15 million pounds (Mlb) of potatoes a year.
Going forward, the company intends to increase the facility’s processing capacity to 200Mlb.
Dieffenbach’s Potato Chips CEO Nevin Dieffenbach said that the new plant was the next logical step in the company’s long-term growth strategy.
Dieffenbach further added that with the recent growth of the business the company is in need of 30-40 additional employees, with jobs available at both its Womelsdorf site and the new Bethel Facility.
The facility expansion will also see the addition of new employment opportunities at the site.
Dieffenbach’s Potato Chips chief operating officer Mike Marlowe said: “The growth of the company over the past few years is allowing us to create more opportunities for our existing team members as well as opportunities for people looking for a new career.
“The market has tremendous growth opportunities. We will continue to grow as fast as we can find the right people to join our team.”
Dieffenbach’s Potato Chips offers products under various brands including Dieffenbach’s, One Potato Two Potato and Uglies.
