The 14th Pinghe Pomelo Festival officially opened on October 9th, 2018, in Pinghe, Fujian. Official data shows that the overall surface area devoted to pomelo plantation in Pinghe is currently at 46.7 thousand hectares with an annual production volume of 1.2 million tons. This is one quarter of the national pomelo production volume. The pomelo production value is 5 billion yuan [720 million USD].
There are many new pomelo varieties, including ones with white, red, or yellow fruit flesh. There are 76 standardized pomelo plantations in Pinghe County with a combined surface area of 14.7 thousand hectares.
