U.S. Trading is recalling Global Pride Rattan Shoot in Brine because it contains sulfites that are not declared on the label. This product may cause adverse reactions if eaten by sulfite sensitivity people. Anyone who has a severe sensitivity to sulfites could have a serious allergic reaction if they consume this product. The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors detected the compound. After analysis, 555.0 ppm of sulfite was found in the Global Pride Rattan Shoot in Brine 24 ounce glass jar. The FDA requires allergen labeling on any product that has more than 10 ppm sulfite. Sulfite is a preservative.
The recalled product is Global Pride Rattan Shoot in Brine in 24 ounce glass jars. The UPC number on the product is 8855273023148, the lot number is 18/09/20, and the expiation date is 18/09/20. Parts of the rattan shoot are edible.
If you purchased this product and are allergic to or sensitive to sulfites, do not eat it. Throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. The recall notice did not state where this product was sold in the U.S.
