Core Tip: The Deputy Minister of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAGAP), Guillermo Moran, held several meetings with representatives of the artisanal fisheries sector in the province of Esmeraldas.
The Deputy Minister said projects like the Artisan Fishing Pier IN Esmeraldas and five fishing facilities in the communities of San Lorenzo, Muisne Rocafuerte, Lemons, and San José de Chamanga, will improve the landing, treatment and quality of fishing.

These projects will generate jobs in the medium and long term, he said.

Guillermo Moran listened to the leaders and members of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives of Ecuador (FENACOPEC), which expressed concern over issues such as piracy on the high seas, among others.

The authority also met with representatives of the Institute of Public Works Contracts (ICO) and the Port Authority of Esmeraldas (APE), to ascertain the progress of Artisan Fishing Pier in this province.

He called on the authorities and Hydrocarbons of Esmeraldas Petrocomercial to solve the problem of fuel supply, so that the fisherman can do work at sea.

Buten Estupiñán Vasquez, president of the Cooperative Artisanal Fish Production "Virgen del Carmen", said construction of a Fisheries Facility will help improve the quality of work, and to obtain a better production capturing resource.
