Core Tip: The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAGAP) through the Undersecretary of Fisheries has been providing identity cards for fishermen brigades in the north of the province of Esmeraldas.
From 31 July to 3 August staff attending to the Santa Rosa fishing coves Canton Eloy Alfaro and Palma Real, in the border area north of Esmeraldas, issued 17 identity permits to artisanal fishing vessels and 251 fishermen middens.

Fishing crews on fishing coves were also given training in issues important to the industry, such as, the control and conservation of marine resources.

Such campaigns have been conducted in the provinces of Manabi, Guayas, Los Rios, El Oro and Esmeraldas in order to give fisherman identity cards showing their work.
