US-based provider of machine-readable anti-counterfeiting solutions InkSure Technologies has launched high security taggants which have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for direct food contact.
The taggants, which will be an addition to the company's anti-counterfeiting product line, can be used for the brand protection and anti-counterfeiting.
The FDA-approved taggants can be used for the protection of prescription and non-prescription drugs and expensive food items. They can also be included into blister packaging, induction seals on bottles, the inside of shrink wraps, foil seals and other packaging materials that come into direct contact with food.
InkSure president and CEO Tal Gilat said that it is important to safeguard the public from counterfeited pharmaceuticals and food products, as the protection available for these items is usually restricted to overt solutions which provide limited protection.
"The FDA approved taggants we offer are of the same level of security used in anti-counterfeiting programs for currencies, banknotes, electronics and other high-value items," Gilat added.
