WINE retailer Majestic shrugged off a washout summer to post a 3.9 per cent increase in half-year profits.
The firm made £9.2 million in the six months to October, helped by a rise in online sales and a string of store openings.
Chief executive Steve Lewis said the new outlet on Edinburgh’s Queensferry Road was by far the most successful of this year’s openings. He said the firm was on track to open 16 stores in the financial year and planned to keep expanding at the same rate the following year.
He added that a burgeoning wedding sector in the Highlands had boosted sales at the Aberdeen and Inverness shops.
