Bacardi USA, a subsidiary of Bermuda-based Bacardi group, is planning to expand the reach of its Hatuey beer in Broward County.
The Cuba based company unveiled the brew for the US market in 1995 and also re-launched it in 2011 with improved packaging and formula.
Bacardi USA brand manager Anler Morejon told the Sun-Sentinel that the pale ale appears like a premium beer which was the best-seller in Cuba from 1920s to 1950s.
After launching the Hatuey beer into the Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, it has sold about 10,000 cases in a year, reports the news agency.
The company expects that the recent addition of kegs to meet demand for draft beer will help boost sales beyond 12,000 cases in 2012.
"Plus, expansion later in Tampa, Orlando and other Florida cities could grow sales annually to more than 50,000 cases in another five years," Morejon added.
