peachThe Valle Alto (Bolivia) increased production of tempranero peach, plum and strawberry by 70%.

This year "we have approximately 2,000 of tempranero peach plants, this means that it has grown by 70 percent," said the president of the OTB Laimina, Wilmer Torrico.

The tempranero peaches are the first to reach the market, so in recent years its production increased to meet demand.

Producers of San Benito, known for the traditional cultivation of peach, have diversified their production moving into production of strawberry and plum.

Fruit growers have also ventured into the production of derivatives of strawberry, plum and peach with jam production.

Torrijo said that "the main objective is to encourage local production of tempranero peach in this sector of Valle Alto and improve the economy of the inhabitants."
