“The carrots this season are fabulous,” says Nir Dahan - product manager at Yapro Ltd, a leading Israeli export company, specializing in root vegetables (potatoes, sweet potatoes and carrots) plus exotics.
“The early stop to the rain this year combined with the warm temperatures during the last 3-4 weeks has increased the yield and the quality of the carrots is excellent”. “Although Europe currently has a sufficient supply of local product, it is mostly coming from storage and the quality will slowly degrade, while the Israeli product is freshly harvested, available in good quantities and the price is relatively low compared with previous years”.
“In general the Israeli export business this season is being challenged by the sharp reduction in value of both GBP and EUR against the local Shekel but this is beyond our control” adds Nir. “At Yapro, we are celebrating this month our 10th Anniversary, so as in every year, despite the various challenges, we are now focusing on a professional service, product safety and consistent quality to all our clients across Europe”
