French wine and spirits exports were up by 10% in 2012 compared to the prior year, according to the Fédération des Exportateurs de Vins et Spiritueux de France (FEVS).
In value terms, wine and spirits exports from France reached a record €11bn ($14.73bn) during the reporting period.
Cognac, Bordeaux and Champagne were the three major contributors to the performance.
Wine sales increased by 8.5% in value terms to almost €7.6bn, as volumes increased by 3.4% to around 153 million 12-bottle cases.
Spirits sales rose by 13.5% to more than €3.5bn; however volumes were declined by 3.7%.
With an increase of 13.1% on 2011 the US emerged as the major export market for French wines and spirits in value terms, followed by the UK and China.
FEVS, an independent and autonomous association, collaborates with public authorities in the study and execution of measures that could increase and promote the development of the wine and spirits industry.
