Proximo, a New Jersey-based privately owned, premium spirits importer, is all set to distribute Jose Cuervo Tequila brand in the US from 1 July 2013.
Produced by Casa Cuervo of Mexico, the Jose Cuervo's portfolio of tequilas include Especial Gold, Tradicional, Platino, Reserva de la Familia, Golden Margarita, Margaritas and Margarita Mix.
Casa Cuervo CEO Juan-Domingo Beckmann said, "Diageo has been a significant partner of Jose Cuervo for many years, but with ten generations of tequila-making in the family, Casa Cuervo is excited to embark on this next chapter in the strategic expansion of its world-renowned tequilas."
Proximo CEO and president Mark Teasdale said Jose Cuervo is one of the biggest tequila brand in the world and they are happy to handle its sales, marketing and distribution roles in the US and Canada.
"We plan to make considerable investments in brand building and innovation for the Jose Cuervo portfolio to accelerate its growth," Teasdale added.
"We are looking forward to returning Jose Cuervo to its position as the most exciting tequila brand in the category."
Proximo's portfolio includes other brands like 1800 Tequila, Three Olives Vodka, The Kraken Black Spiced Rum, Maestro Dobel Tequila and Hangar One Vodka.
