Stolt Sea Farm, the Spain-based seafood farming company, has received Friend of the Sea certification for its turbot farming and processing sites.

The company delivers 5,000 metric tons of turbot to its customers every year, largely wholesalers and retail chains in Spain, Frnace, Scandinavia, Germany and Switzerland.

“We know that Friend of the Sea certification represents an important added value for our production and we are proud to have achieved a positive evaluation against all audit requirements,” said Luis Toro, Director of Stolt Sea Farm.

The company received the certification based on the sustainability of its turbot farming and processing operations. Among other factors, the farming operation includes highly-filtered water and a computer-controlled system that does not use growth hormones or any other chemicals in the feed.
