Pernod Ricard UK has added a new wine, Pinot Grigio, to its Jacob’s Creek Cool Harvest wine range in the UK.
The wine is made from grapes harvested at night to keep the wine fresh and crisp. It is bottled at 10.3% ABV.
Pernod Ricard marketing head Lucy Bearman was quoted by off licence news as saying that the release came in response to consumer demand for light and fresh varietal wines.
"The popularity of Pinot Grigio among consumers is continuing to grow, with the grape variety now sitting as the UK's second best-selling wine," Bearman added.
"Australia is the greatest contributor to these sales, adding £10 million to the overall value of Pinot Grigio. Not only do consumers enjoy Australian Pinot Grigio, they're happy to pay extra for it - the varietal has an average selling price more than 15% higher than the market average."
The white wine is available for sale from September 2013 at a recommended retail price of £8.65 per 750ml bottle.
Pinot Grigio joins other wines in the Jacob's Creek Cool Harvest wine range that includes Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz Rosé.
