Scottish island of Islay will get its new distillery on the shores of Loch Indaal, near Bowmore and across the water from Bruichladdich, which will be its ninth distillery.
Named after Gartbreck Farm, which lies on the road from Bowmore to the airport, the proposed whiskey distillery is expected to be unveiled in the spring of 2015.
Gartbreck is expected to help meet the increasing consumer demand for whiskey, and for Scotch whiskey in specific, Shanken news daily reported.
The independent initiator of the project, who will also act as the future manager, said that further work on the new distillery will definitely continue.
In addition, Islay has unveiled Kilchoman distillery in 2005.
