Musgrave adds Rushe Group’s stores to portfolio

Irish food seller Musgrave has announced that Rushe Group is set to join its SuperValu and Centra networks by the end of November 2013.

As per the plan, Rushe Group's three stores in Killiney, Dalkey and Naas will be added to SuperValu, while a fourth store in Stillorgan will become a Centra. All the stores employ over 200 people.

Rushe Group Operations director Shane Rushe said, "We have taken the decision to move our stores to SuperValu and Centra, as they are two of the strongest and most competitive brands within their sectors of the Irish retail market."

With the addition of the Rushe Group, the total number of SuperValu stores will be increased to 201 nationwide, with a further 22 Superquinn stores set to change their names to SuperValu's in February 2014. The total number of Centra stores currently stands at 466.

Presently, Musgrave has operates in Ireland, UK and Spain. Besides Centra and SuperValu brands, the chain also owns Mace brand in Northern Ireland.
