American catfish farming and processing company Heartland Catfish Co. has earned the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA)'s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification, according to the GAA.

The plant, located in Itta Bena, Miss., processes 60 to 75 million pounds of live fish per year from the company's farms in Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas.

The newest BAP certification follows the recertification of the company's Greensboro, Ala. plant in August.
