Hormel Foods, L.L.C. said it will move production of its Bacon Bits toppings products from St. James, Minn., to Dubuque, Iowa, as part of an expansion of its Progressive Processing plant in Dubuque.

Hormel expects to complete the move by this summer.

The expansion project is one of the two prospective production lines Hormel Foods sought funding for in November 2013. The Iowa Economic Development Authority board members last November approved the City of Dubuque’s request for a $4.1 million incentive package, for both projects, that could help secure the expansions at the local food processing plant.
