The Scandinavian Pick & Mix confectioner Candyking has made the decision to close its businesses in Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic in order to focus on Poland.
Candykind say that they selected these particular central European countries because they had become 'unprofitable".
Commenting on the announcement, CEO David von Lasowski noted that over the past few years, "the European food retail market has been characterised by price pressure and challenging competition".
"For this reason it is a natural step that we focus our resources where we see the greatest growth potential - in this case Poland," he said.
Von Laskowski has announced that he is to leave Candyking after the company failed in its attempt to become publicly listed. Businesses affected will be closed by 30 April. He is due to remain as CEO until a replacement can be found.
