With MYLAR COOK, tasty roast pork succeeds as easily as a succulent salmon dish or healthy lasagne. For those who would like to put this innovative packaging and cooking concept to the proof, they will have the opportunity of doing so from the 25th to the 27th of March. MULTIVAC is inviting the manufacturers of convenience products to its MYLAR COOK Innovation Days for the first time.
MULTIVAC will start its varied and informative programme with an in-troduction to the MYLAR COOK concept. Afterwards, participants at the innovation days will be able to prepare, pack and cook their own dishes and recipes.
In its Training & Innovation Center in Wolfertschwenden, the Allgäuer packaging specialist has specially built a fully equipped test kitchen in which state-of-the-art methods preparation can be applied. The test kitchen has a variety of ovens and appliances, such as microwave, contact grill, Merrychef or sous vide water bath units. A chef, who is also responsible for holding events of this kind, supports the partici-pants in the development of their own recipes. MULTIVAC provides the required ingredients. However, participants can also bring their own products.
Broad spectrum of applications
A wide range of products can be packed with MYLAR COOK, from meat and fish to vegetables. MYLAR BAKE is a special concept for packaging baked goods. “At present, MYLAR COOK is mainly used for meat products that are enhanced with marinades, spices and sauces,” says Robert Wild, who is responsible for MYLAR COOK and MYLAR BAKE at MULTIVAC.
Products packed in MYLAR COOK are prepared as ready-to-cook products, then vacuum packed in oven-ready film and subsequently frozen or chilled. Later they can be taken straight out of the refrigera-tor or freezer and placed in the oven or microwave to be cooked.
Cost-effective and energy-efficient, high quality
The structure of the MYLAR COOK films is made so that the seal seam of the pack opens by itself in the oven, when a certain pressure is reached. The pack opening by itself allows the vapours caused by cooking to escape. An additional steam valve, as required by other oven-ready packaging, is not necessary here. This makes the MY-LAR COOK concept particularly cost-effective and energy-efficient, while achieving a better quality at the same time.
Compared to conventional packaging made of composite films, the packaging volume is also considerably smaller. The self-contained cooking system also reduces clean-up time and water consumption in the kitchen.
